SNY Utility 22 On Saturday May 8, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety opened its doors to the public during their annual open house. During the event, more than 250 community members toured the facilities, displays, and got an up-close look at all the department has to offer. Some of the displays included equipment from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSI), the SWAT Team, the Bicycle Enforcement Team, fire apparatus and the Recruiting Unit. There were also live demonstrations by the Canine Unit and the "Jaws of Life" was put to use during an auto-extrication demonstration by Fire Station 2 personnel. Other displays included the Red Cross, SNAP, SARES ham radio operators, and an AMR ambulance with paramedics. The event was coordinated by the members of the Crime Prevention Unit and the Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS). Utility 22 is a Ford F550 pickup used as a Prime Mover for various towed pieces of equipment. ANG participates in ETS exercise RED DOG MINE PORTSITE, Alaska - An Alaska Air National Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew lands at the Red Dog Mine Portsite 83 miles north of Kotzebue to participate in an Emergency Towing Exercise with Coast Guard and industry assets and personnel Aug. 9, 2011. The Air Force crew was able to familiarize themselves with the towing system and the procedures for slingloading it to a vessel, but equipment needs and the small deck space aboard the Kodiak-based 225-foot Coast Guard Cutter SPAR led the aircrew to abort the mission and the 126-foot Seattle-based tug Sidney Foss was used to transport the ETS from the mine to the cutter and tow the SPAR.
